JC

(They/Them/Theirs)
A multi-passionate storyteller who didn't intend to mentor other writers but soon realised their obsessive understanding of the craft was a gift to be shared.
WORK WITH JC
"JC provided me not just a thorough analysis of my script, but many great insights and also guidance to support me exploring different ideas and ways to write. It really helped me to discover new things and be more creative. It was such an amazing experience working with them!"
- Lansy (She/Her) Theatre: Dear Mama, There's Something Maybe I Should Tell You...

Picture
From 2010-2012, JC dedicated themselves to a BA of Performing & Screen Arts (Majoring in Directing & Writing for Screen & Theatre) in New Zealand and studiously wrote, directed, produced, and acted in numerous short films and theatre plays over the next six years. They have penned award-winning short films, including What is a hero? (2008), Down Under (2014), and What Do You See (2016).
In 2018-2019, they committed to a Master of Screenwriting from Melbourne’s VCA. During this time, JC was praised for their ability to deliver constructive criticism of classmates’ work. It encouraged JC to offer insightful and compassionate feedback on scripts, plays, and novels, particularly for writers from the trans community, to combat the problems with equal opportunity and representation.

They are currently developing two feature screenplays: 50 (F*cking) Dates explores the sexual liberation of women and nonbinary people, and Red Hollywood uncovers the patriarchal treatment of women in the film industry - with a supernormal twist! (The latter is based on JC's original theatre play produced by 24 Carrot Productions in 2021).

JC is also preparing to publish their YA hope-punk, action trilogy, The Wall, and is the creator of the YouTube series, Movie Mash.

Their work articulates empowering perspectives on feminism and trans rights and advocates the importance of emotional intelligence/growth.
